A typical swim course with S4 Swim School will be around 10-14 weeks in duration (average school term) with S4 children's swimming classes being 30 minutes. S6 coaching sessions for the more advanced swimmer and adult swimming lessons will be 1 hour duration. The S6 Squad is by invitation only as swimmers will need to be technically and physically ready. The Rookie Lifeguard lessons are suitable for swimmers from the age of 8 years who have achieved their stage 6 award and have a minimum distance badge of 100m.
S4 Swim School alternates between a Skills Course and a Distance Course.
Skills Course:
During a skills course, swimmers will have the opportunity to work towards achieving Swim England Skill Awards (Stages 1-10, depending on swimming level).
Distance Course:
During a distance course, swimmers will have the opportunity to work towards achieving Distance Awards (5m-5000m, depending on swimming level).
Rookie Lifeguard Programme:
The RLSS Rookie Lifeguard Pool Programme can run alongside your child's regular swimming lessons and builds on the skills they already learn in the pool. Rookies develop essential survival, rescue, and lifesaving skills, empowering them to respond confidently in emergency situations.
Children can work towards achieving the RLSS Rookie Lifeguard Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards as they progress through the programme.
Course dates may differ dependent on venue and location. S4 members will receive Internal communications in relation to course specifics (start / end dates etc).
In the event of session cancellations during courses, S4 Swim School always allow time to extend on where necessary. The ongoing progression of our swimmers is a priority for us, therefore where necessary, dates for the remaining weeks will be adjusted to ensure for course completions (assessments / awards achieved).
Swim intensive courses are extremely popular as this learn to swim programme gives a real boost with their swimming development, early booking is advised. These happen over the school holiday periods with group sizes capped at five swimmers. One-week courses are on offer for Non-Swimmers, Beginners, Improvers and Advanced children.
